Welcome to the AidiX personalized learning microcredential system using our AR lab. Aidi School believes there is no technology on the horizon that can replace human-to-human learning. This is because education is not only about knowledge acquisition but also includes things like application in diverse contexts, socio-emotional learning, and team-based learning that are human-centric. However, many students would benefit from opportunities to explore personalized learning at their own pace, mediated by technologies they find novel and engaging but that are still effective. For this reason, TLI has redeveloped the Augmented Reality lab into a new microcredential system called AidiX to honour other pioneering microcredential systems such as HarvardX and EdX.
For students… This new system is available for direct booking by individual students to allow them to explore their interests in a personalized environment and receive formal recognition for their accomplishments. Students can now contact the Teaching, Learning and Innovation Center (TLI) directly to set up an appointment with our staff to begin their journey as part of the school effort to offer the best in personalized learning both in and out of classrooms. They can take individual lessons or complete all the requirements for a microcredential and get a TLI certificate for their learning portfolio and university admissions process. Students who are interested in enrichment learning can contact TLI via the following WeChat account.
For teachers… Teachers may also wish to book the lab and bring all their students to work either on individual lessons or entire lesson sets leading to a microcredential if this provides support for your courses. You may use them as a self-paced lesson or series of lessons for an entire class and give assistance or enrichment as needed. This can be combined with short video microlectures if you wish to explore flipped lessons with AR. Most AR lessons include embedded digital knowledge checks while others incorporate premade worksheets students will submit to you. The AR lessons may be used effectively as an exploratory introduction before direct instruction or after direct instruction as classroom reinforcement in place of worksheets, especially when combined with quality formative assessment practices such as traffic lights. Also, teachers who want all their students to complete all requirements for a microcredential in the lab can arrange for that and TLI will print certificates for every student and either present them directly or give them to the teacher to present.
Finally, teachers can arrange for the lab to be used for individual or small groups of students for extra enrichment for advanced students ahead of their class or as support for lower-attainment students that prerequisite learning. All lessons are available in either English or Chinese, so teachers can assign work in the language of their choice and so English teachers can use relevant interdisciplinary programs for their content-based English lessons. Recommended lesson age groups are given for guidance, but we are happy to offer lessons at any level for teachers who desire them. TLI is happy to provide full support to teachers wishing to incorporate this program into their practice, including planning, monitoring, and feedback. As we trial this system, we welcome suggestions from teachers and students and will adjust credential requirements and TLI support as needed through the trial. If you have questions, would like to book students, or would like to make requests for other content offerings, please contact TLI. TLI sends a warm thank you to Ju Yan, Jason Li , Phoebe Sun and Wang Chuan for their subject matter expert contributions to this initiative!
